BARTEC builds new storage system at Bad Mergentheim site

• Groundbreaking for robotic, fully automated storage system

• Explosion protection specialist from Bad Mergentheim offers versatile safety solutions to customers worldwide

Bad Mergentheim, 12 July, 2023. Based on more than 45 years of experience in the development and production of explosion-protected systems and devices, BARTEC provides safety solutions and products at the Bad Mergentheim site that prevent explosions across all industries. To supply customers worldwide on time, an efficient and deadline-optimized material supply of the production processes is indispensable.

An essential element of material supply is efficient storage and fast access to stock material. This is achieved with the fully automated storage system now being built at the Bad Mergentheim site. To provide reliable services to BARTEC's customers even more efficiently in the future, BARTEC is building a new, automated storage system with more than 4200 storage locations directly in front of the existing logistics center in Max-Eyth-Str.

The special feature of the new storage system is the use of a robot-assisted, fully automated storage system. Conveyor technology, elevators and sequencers are superfluous here and the respective work steps will be much more efficient in the future.

"From Bad Mergentheim, we will supply our global customers even more efficiently with our versatile safety solutions in the future. The new state-of-the-art storage system is a real highlight: fully automated and robot-supported, every process step will be implemented quickly and with high precision in the future," said CEO Dr. Martin U. Schefter at the official groundbreaking.
In the new storage system, the material containers are moved around the warehouse by robots via a ramp system in all three dimensions. This increases the storage packing density, and the system is particularly fail-safe. Work on the foundation started at the beginning of July. Completion of the new warehouse system is scheduled for early 2024.

"BARTEC has exclusively contracted regional companies for the construction of the new storage system. In this way, we are sending a clear signal of our commitment to the Main-Tauber economic region," emphasizes site manager Andreas Lucas. With this new building, BARTEC is investing about 1.5 million euros at the Bad Mergentheim site, where BARTEC's headquarters are also located and where about 260 qualified employees work.
