Meet Alfredo Smith – BARTEC EMCON US Sales Manager

We’re pleased to welcome Alfredo Smith, our new US EMCON Sales Manager, who joined the team in June 2026.

As part of the Enterprise Mobility & Connectivity team, he’ll be supporting customers across the US with hazardous area mobility, connectivity and digitalization solutions. With a strong background in hazardous area enterprise mobility and a clear passion for building customer relationships, Alfredo brings plenty of energy, confidence and industry experience to the role.

To help everyone get to know him a little better, we asked him about his first few weeks with BARTEC, what excites him about the portfolio, what he’s looking forward to bringing to the role, and a few fun questions outside of work.

Here’s what he had to say.

For anyone who has not met you yet, how would you describe yourself in three words, and why?

I would describe myself as:

Fun: Because life is too short to be too serious.

Competitive: Because I enjoy competing to win. If I don’t win, I learn so I can win the next time.

Confident: Because I believe in myself and what I can bring to any situation. Philippians 4:13 is my absolute favorite scripture.

What made you excited about joining BARTEC and the EMCON team?

I was most excited about the opportunity to bring success to a company that is positioned to be a major player in the HazLoc Enterprise Mobility space. My experience aligns well with the needs in this role. I love providing solutions to internal and external customers. Can not wait to meet everyone in the near future in the field.

How have you found your first few weeks with BARTEC so far?

My first few weeks have been great. The BARTEC team has been very warm and welcoming since my arrival. I have been given their confidence that I can be successful here. Looking forward to proving them right!

What has stood out to you most since joining the team?

The diversity of talent and experience on this team is impressive. This is truly a global company with a focus on supporting customers and partners in any part of the world. To have this much experience under one roof to combine synergies and share best practices is invaluable.

With your industry experience, what are you most looking forward to bringing into the role?

I am looking forward to bringing a complete basket of solutions to the North America market. The Zebra partnership is huge! Having an industry leader in scanning at my disposal makes my job much easier to pull through the complete BARTEC portfolio as a solution sale.  I’m also excited about the connectivity side as it completes the EMCON story. BARTEC offers hazardous area wireless enclosures, antennas, RF isolators, BLE gateways and real time location solutions that help customers safely connect people, assets, and data. That allows us to have a bigger conversation around digital field execution, safety, visibility, and real-time decision making. Presenting myself as a trusted advisor / solution provider is what I look forward to the most. This product line will allow me to make a compelling selling moment with the market.

What do you think customers will find most valuable about the Enterprise Mobility & Connectivity portfolio?

Our customers will find value in the diversity of products available to them with global HazLoc certifications. In addition to tri-certifications, the flexibility of Windows or Android solutions will make our portfolio attractive to anyone from lone workers to IT professionals.

What part of the role are you most looking forward to getting involved in?

Internal and external sales and building relationship with both. I enjoy going into the field and training not only products but applications where our devices are used. Also seeing how our solutions are used in different workflows brings a smile to my face. The more success stories we can create, the better we position ourselves with any customer.

When you are not working, what do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy spending time with my wife and my 3-year-old son. They bring me so much joy. We do everything together, as of late, it has been a different birthday party or splash day for my son’s friends every weekend lol. I also enjoy watching sports and working out at the gym.

What is something fun or unexpected that people might not know about you?

I am a terrible golfer. So bad that I did the impossible. One time at Top Golf I took a full swing forward, and the ball went backwards. Don’t ask me how. Everyone behind me ran for cover. Fortunately, nobody was hurt in my attempt.

Looking ahead, what are you excited to achieve with the EMCON team?

I am excited build BARTEC to a recognized leader in enterprise mobility in the hazardous location market. I would love to build EMCON’s brand recognition to where we are the first manufacturer that any customer reference when they have any digitalization, turnaround, inspection, or global enterprise mobility project.
