We’re pleased to introduce Simon in his new role as UK and Ireland EMCON (Enterprise Mobility, Connectivity and Automation Business Unit) Sales Manager at BARTEC, which he started in June 2026.
Simon moves into the EMCON team from Extronics, BARTEC’s Connectivity and IoT brand, where he has been part of the business since 2014. Most recently, he held the role of Configured Products Manager, working closely with customers to understand their requirements and help shape connectivity solutions around their operational needs.
His new role creates an exciting opportunity to continue sharing that experience, while also expanding his focus across BARTEC’s Enterprise Mobility range. With long-standing product knowledge, a customer-first approach and hands-on experience in tailored connectivity solutions, Simon brings valuable insight to the EMCON team as it continues to support customers with their digitalization goals.
We caught up with Simon to hear more about his first few weeks in the role, what he is looking forward to bringing to the EMCON team, and a few things colleagues and customers may not know about him.
For anyone who has not met you yet, how would you describe yourself in three words, and why?
I take a people-first approach to my work. I like asking questions, keeping things grounded, and making sure ideas make sense in the real world – not just on paper.
What made you excited about joining BARTEC and the EMCON team?
The opportunity to combine my connectivity and iWAP knowledge with similar, but new products that are new but genuinely interesting to me. EMCON offers plenty to get curious about, while still allowing me to bring experience that customers can benefit from straight away.
How have you found your first few weeks with BARTEC so far?
Busy, but in a good way. Lots to learn, plenty of conversations, and a new team that’s been very supportive from day one. There’s a strong sense of teamwork, very little ego, and a genuine focus on doing what’s right for the customer and the success of the team as a whole.
With your industry experience, what are you most looking forward to bringing into the role?
Being there for customers in a genuine way. I enjoy building relationships based on trust and honesty, and becoming a reliable, go‑to contact that customers feel comfortable working with over the long term.
What do you think customers will find most valuable about the Enterprise Mobility & Connectivity portfolio?
The simplicity of having everything under one portfolio instead of juggling multiple suppliers. EMCON allows customers to build their digitalisation strategy with BARTEC, rather than piecing solutions together from different manufacturers.
What part of the role are you most looking forward to getting involved in?
Spending time with customers. Getting to understand how they really operate, what challenges they’re facing, and working with them to shape the right solutions rather than just talking about products.
When you are not working, what do you enjoy doing?
I’m very social outside of work and enjoy team sports. I’ve got a competitive streak, so I enjoy anything that involves working as a team and pushing for a win.
What is something fun or unexpected that people might not know about you?
I’m a pretty good cook, and I’m lucky enough to have an almost photographic memory, so if you have a favourite dish from your local tandoori, I quite enjoy the challenge of recreating something pretty close without needing to check a recipe book.
Looking ahead, what are you excited to achieve with the EMCON team?
Playing my part in helping the team succeed against ambitious growth targets, supporting others beyond my own region, sharing experience, and giving back in the same way others have supported me.
