The BARTEC Group, a leading global provider of explosion protection solutions, is setting the course for the next phase of its corporate development and has appointed Maximilian Herberger as Managing Director of BARTEC Top Holding GmbH and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) effective June 1, 2026.
With this appointment, BARTEC underlines its clear ambition to further accelerate its growth trajectory and actively drive the company’s transformation in an increasingly dynamic global market environment. Herberger succeeds Dr. Thomas R. Fritzmann, who will leave the company on May 31, 2026, at his own request and by mutual agreement, to pursue new professional and personal opportunities. The transition has been carefully planned.
“Over the past years, BARTEC has developed very successfully and has built a strong foundation for further growth,” says Dr. Martin U. Schefter, Managing Director (CEO) of BARTEC. “I would like to thank Thomas Fritzmann for his important contribution to this development and fully respect his personal decision. With Maximilian Herberger, we are gaining a CFO who brings extensive experience in transformation, performance improvement, and international scaling. He will play a key role in consistently advancing our strategic priorities and unlocking new growth opportunities.”
Maximilian Herberger has extensive experience in financial management and the transformation of international industrial companies. Since 2022, he served as CFO and Managing Director of the helmet manufacturer SCHUBERTH, where he led a phase of profitable growth and significantly improved operational performance. In this role, he drove substantial improvements in revenue, earnings and cash flow — among other things through the optimization of core business processes and the introduction of various business unit-specific management and incentive tools. Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis at MAN Truck & Bus, where he led a major transformation program and advanced financial planning capabilities in a complex international industrial environment. He began his career at McKinsey & Company, where he advised companies as an Associate Partner globally on strategic performance transformations and major M&A projects.
“BARTEC is a company with real substance and a strong starting position — and that is precisely what makes this role so compelling,” said CFO Maximilian Herberger. “My focus will be on driving growth and profitability with conviction: through clear management impulses, efficient structures, and a finance function that actively enables entrepreneurial action. I am confident that together with the team, we can purposefully shape BARTEC’s next phase of growth.”
With his combination of strategic perspective and hands-on execution capability, Maximilian Herberger will further strengthen the financial management of BARTEC and make a significant contribution to the delivery of the company’s global growth and transformation agenda.
